UK EYE FLYERS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SUMMER!
LONDON – Leading airport media specialist, EYE, has been investigating the attitudes of Eye Flyers towards this year’s summer holidays and found that they are very much committed to their summer break. Almost 67% of adults asked said that they would be spending more or the same on this year’s break as they did last year*.

Also, 38% of Eye Flyers will be taking three or more domestic or international holidays whilst just over 52% of Eye Flyers will be taking two or more overseas holidays. Beach holidays are still the most popular type of holiday being planned with 46% of Eye Flyers planning this type of break. Europe is still the most popular destination amongst Eye Flyers with 80% likely to fly there but almost 24% say they are also planning to fly to the United States this year.

Eye Flyers like the idea of travelling abroad and the majority (88%) like to escape somewhere hot over the summer. Although 37% will probably take a package holiday as one of their overseas trips this year, 85% will enjoy planning all the separate details of their trip. They’re open to new ideas with 89% happy to try new airlines and almost 74% happy to hear suggestions of new holiday destinations, even when they’re at the airport.

The arriving airport journey presents an interesting Flyer mindset; it’s the time for resolutions and planning our future. Returning home from our holidays, 30% of Eye Flyers resolve to find a new job whilst 68% determine to lose weight or take up exercise and the vast majority of us (86%) find ourselves already planning our next holiday.

Stephanie Gibson, Marketing Manager, Eye Fly UK comments: “We love our summer breaks so much so that the majority of us will cut back on luxuries like eating out, new clothes and entertainment to make sure that we can afford one. After one of the harshest winters for many years, we’re all looking forward to some time in the sun. In fact, in February a third of the people we asked had already booked this year’s summer holiday”.

Using the Toluna community website, EYE conducted 300 online surveys amongst UK resident adults who have flown through Manchester, East Midlands, Belfast International, Bournemouth, Cardiff or Humberside airports in the last 12 months. The company’s first panel this year focused on attitudes to the airport environment and journey whilst the second investigated this year’s holiday plans.
